Six Sigma

Six Sigma has several definitions. First it is a business philosophy whereby an organization removes variation and defects from processes, while increasing the process capability, to virtually achieve products and services with zero defects. It is virtually a “defect free” business operation goal; you should be 6 standard deviation from the mean before a defect appears. While that increases customer satisfaction and loyalty, gaining and incomparable advantage competitive.

Secondly, Six Sigma is a performance index that allows organizations to compare selected internal processes vs. other internal operations. It also allows the organization to externally compare its performance vs. its competition.

Six Sigma uses the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Implement, and Control) problem solving methodology and produces direct bottom line results by focusing on improvement projects with high Net Present Value.

Six Sigma is based on the use of statistically proven tools used during the DMAIC phases that has been highly effective in improving process performance and in generating well defined and measured financial results.

The financial return of a well-supported Six Sigma implementation is compelling. Most companies that have fully implemented Six Sigma have been able to deliver substantial results to the bottom line. Beyond the financial return, Six Sigma also lowers costs and defects while improving overall quality, customer satisfaction, and time delivery. Six Sigma is a well-established approach for achieving and maintaining strategic competitive advantage.

Six Sigma implementation process begins with Leadership Training session designed to give the Senior Team an overview of the philosophy, define the executive roles and responsibilities, and to outline all phases of the implementation process.
Also, interactively select Six Sigma projects that are directly linked to the key business processes and their goals for the year. The projects are tied to corporate goals yet they ideally can be completed in a 4 to 6 month period.

Black Belts are Six Sigma project leaders who will receive comprehensive training in all the Six Sigma tools and methodology over a 6-month period. They are also supported by Green Belts and Champions who also receive less intensive, yet thorough training in the tools of Six Sigma.
